It was pretty windy first thing this morning, but otherwise it was a beautiful fall day. The temperature started this morning in the low 50s and it was mostly sunny all day. Thanks to the runoff from all of the rain over the weekend the tide was higher than normal and the water was a nice shade of brown so I figured it would be another day of no fishing reports….I was wrong.
Nick Denny and Finn McCabe sent me some pics and said that fishing was “insane” today. Nick and Finn fished the beach at Homer Gudelsky Park (previously called stinky beach) in West Ocean City and had terrific luck with small red drum and flounder. Nick caught seven puppy drum and nine flounder. Nick’s biggest drum was 17 1/2″ and his biggest flounder was 19″. Finn caught three puppy drum and two flounder, one of which was a nice keeper at 20 1/2″. Nick reported that the came in a flurry for about 15 minutes where the guys were catching them just about every cast and then they were gone. This is some pretty awesome fall fishing, especially in tough conditions.
