I’ve got one day left at the Great American Outdoor Show in Harrisburg, PA and then it’s home to prepare for the OC Boat Show next Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I’ll be doing a seminar on Saturday the 17th at 1 PM where we’ll be giving away some door prizes including a 2.5 HP outboard from Goldsborough Marine. Hope to see you all there!
Captain Monty Hawkins of the Morning Star was able to get out on the ocean today for some tautog fishing and he was able to put his folks on some decent fishing that included a surprise red drum.
Calm waters in the marina sure were inviting. Took the 2022 Annual Reef Raffle winner (3rd place?) and friends off today for some winter toggin. After paddling a good while Colt and his Dad, Charlie, dropped a 24 block unit on a reef we’re improving. Anchors in soon after, we got to fishing. Dern sure wasn’t much catching at first. Our third spot was modestly lively though. Had several good ones get away. Charlie used his reef builders karma to take the pool. Colt caught some shorts but got to feel a real one. Vic fished a bit on this nice day – a summer wind with a winter’s sky. Dogoned if he didn’t catch a red drum. Tried like heck to get it revived.Wasn’t happening. In slot and dinner then. Took a few tog for dinner too. Fair number of throwbacks. Monday’s forecast changed to just a slim chance of rain – still calm, still warm (for February!) and I’ve barely got the boat’s stern sold.
