It was a rough one out there today folks! I’m pretty sure that NOBODY fished offshore today, and though some tried it not too many people caught fish inshore. It was a nice sunny day in here on the beach but it was rough with a steady NE wind at 20+ knots all day. Exactly 0 boats fished in the Ocean City Marlin Club Labor Day White Marlin Tournament today so the standings update is simple…..the same as yesterday.
I did get a report from John Prather on Ocean City Guide Service today confirming how tough fishing was. Captain John had one keeper today and a slow pick of throwbacks throughout the bay. His one keeper came on a strip of lizard fish.
He’s a nasty little guy with a mouth wider than his entire body. We catch them in the bay quite a bit in the late summer, and a small one or a strip from one side can work great as a flounder bait.
Yesterday the Boss Hogg had a really nice catch while deep dropping in the canyons. The “Hogg” caught several sea bass, a few mahi and some nice blue line tilefish. One of the tiles was a whopping 15 pounder!
