was still a little bumpy today, but boats were still able to get out there and put a hurting on the sea bass population. There was also some more good back bay fishing for some anglers.
Captain Jason Mumford of Lucky brake charters had a good day in the Ocean City Inlet today with some keeper flounders and some striped bass.
Captain Chris Mizurak of the Angler reported having to weed through some shorts, but they found a nice catch of sea bass by the end of the day.
Captain Monty Hawkins of the Morning Star saw bluefish, trigger fish, and some limits of sea bass on today’s trip.
Sea Bass Limits & Not One(!) Scup Long Trip on a chop-sloppy day – 11/1/26
“Fall back” found us barely making the sunrise photo shoot this morning. Glad we did though – nice one.
Pressing off a bit, Phil & Parker did the deed on today’s block unit. Landing perfectly on what will soon be a super reef; we struck a course offshore from there – a good bit further off than normal really.
At lines in we saw some shorts. Lot of reeling for that. Wasn’t long though and up came some seriously nice sea bass.
Fishing a spot where I have caught a lot of scup in Nov/Dec – on a trip I’d advertised as including/targeting scup – and we had a giant goose egg in the scup dept.
Ugh.
Can’t say as anyone was upset though. Caught some of the nicest sea bass this year..
John, in fact, caught a 35 minute limit. My friend Willie would bag the pool fish & all my regulars limited. Others aboard caught all they wanted – perhaps unfamiliar with how delicious frozen cbass can be in February..
Awful lot of fuel – much closer to an oil change too (and that ain’t cheap either!) but a great day of sea bassing.
Nice when it happens.
Did deploy “The Stalk” with 7 lights and six cameras. Some pretty cool screen grabs..
Cheers,
Monty
