We had a really nice day in Ocean City today with warm temperatures, sunny skies and light winds. The party boats were able to enjoy calm conditions and the ocean calmed down enough for some of the offshore fleet to get out to the canyons.
The Marli with Captain Mark Hoos and mate Mark Stephens ventured to the Washington Canyon today and had a really nice day of trolling with Ray Streib and his crew. The Marli had a stringer full of five nice yellowfin tuna, five nice gaffer mahi and two white marlin releases. That is a great day of charter fishing! Congratulations to Carl and John on their first ever white marlin releases!
The Ocean Princess with Captain Victor Bunting was out on the rip today bottom fishing our wrecks and reefs. They reported some decent fishing today with keeper sea bass and a few keeper tautog mixed in. Folks that are focusing on catching tautog are having pretty consistent luck catching keepers.
I got a report from Bear at the Oceanic Pier reporting some more decent bluefish and rockfish action.
Below Mike Harvey from Glen Burnie, MD caught this 36″, 13 pound bluefish on a live minnow at the Oceanic Pier.
US Marine Tom Clark and his buddy had a good time with the throwback rockfish last night on the pier.
I got a cool report from Brian Roberts of the Huk Big Fish Classic that you don’t see everyday. Brian took his buddy Ian Gifford of Olney, MD on his first paddle board fishing trip and Ian caught and released four throwback rockfish on peeler crabs. It takes a good amount of skill to even stand up on a paddle board so catching fish on one deserves some respect.
