We finally had some warmish temperatures and some lightish winds today so there were lots of folks out on the water to take advantage of the good fall fishing. Anglers were catching tautog on the jetties, rockfish at the piers and bridge and there were lots of sea bass and some big flounder caught in the ocean.
I had the pleasure of heading out on the Angler today with Captain Chris Mizurak and mates Steve and Jack and I had an awesome time and caught some nice fish. I was testing our new Deadly Tackle bucktail jigs (they’ll launch spring of 2026) and filming for some YouTube and possibly Hooked on OC. There were lots of sea bass around the rail, a couple of nice triggerfish and several keeper flounder up to a big 7.5 pounds. The two biggest fish of the day and the uncontested fish pool winner was Ever who was fishing right next to me. Ever caught a nice 5.5 or so pound flounder early on and then just before quitting time he landed a personal best 7.5 pounder on a Deadly Tackle Hi-Lo 5/0 that I had given him earlier. Was an awesome fish and an awesome trip. Check it out below!!
Captain Dale Lisi of the Foolish Pleasures had his crew out in the deep and returned home with this nice swordfish.
Big Bird Cropper reported in this evening to say that the rockfish bite was hot today. Bird caught and released several stripers and boxed this keeper sized fish. Shawn Flaherty fished the shore at Assateague Island and had a keeper sized rock as well. Both guys were using Roy Rigs!
