It was a nasty one in Ocean City today. It absolutely poured this afternoon and the breeze picked up pretty good before it was all over. It was rough offshore today as well…..and maybe it was a good thing. The past several days have been really calm and the tuna fishing has not been good. Today it blows up a little and the fishing improves drastically. I’m still going to go with the fish sometimes don’t bite as well when it’s too calm and today was definitely proof to the theory.
Captain Mark Hoos and mate Mark Stephens of the charter boat Marli had a great day of tuna fishing in the sloppy conditions. The two Marks put Randy Townsend and his crew on 11 nice yellowfin tuna today.
The Boss Hogg had a good day of tuna fishing today for Eric and his crew. Boss Hogg threw eight yellowfin tuna and a gaffer mahi on the dock at Sunset Marina this afternoon.
Captain Todd Kurtz and mate Tito returned from an overnight trip aboard Restless Lady with FRED, George Rittenhouse, Matt McShain and JEB and unloaded some nice fish including yellowfin tuna, mahi and tilefish. They also released a white marlin during the trip.
Captain Ed Kaufman and mate Bryan Hazard were out on Jade II with Cary Hoff and his crew and had a good day with the yellowfin putting five nice fish in the box.
Flounder fishing in the bay continues to be productive in the clean water. There are a ton of throwbacks, but there are some keepers as well like this 21″ fish that came off of the Bay Bee yesterday.
Bear from the Oceanic Pier in downtown Ocean City submitted this photo of Eddie from Salt Rock, WV who caught this 33″ keeper rockfish on a Gotcha plug from the 2nd street bulkhead.
