What A Fluke Bite They Had!

What A Fluke Bite They Had!

According to the ocean going party boat fleet it was a beautiful day out on the rip and the fishing was some of the best they’ve seen in October.  Captain Monty Hawkins of the Morning Star even went so far as to say that it was top 5 of the entire season.  Based on the photos that I got today I’d have to say that I agree.

Captain Monty also dropped concrete block #23,000 for the Ocean City Reef Foundation today and in doing so added some more great habitat off of our coast.  Here Daniel Altfather & Doug Stancombe send reef block #23,000 by the rail making 1,192 blocks at Capt. Bob Gowar’s Memorial Reef.

As I said at the top Captain Monty reported some awesome fishing today over ocean structure.  Sea bass-only pool was won by Eddie Vodak of Annapolis with his 19″ sea bass. He also limited on fluke up to 22 inches.
Numerous clients limited out on Flounder on board Morning Star today.  Pictured below are Felix Strater of Chadds Ford, PA – Dennis O’Neill of Garnet Valley, PA – Rich Patschorke of Ocean Pines – Jimmy Giles of Bishopville – Mike Ziegler of OC – Paul Kissinger of Harrisburg, PA – Chuck Burnham of Bel Air, MD – Philip Vodak of Linthicum, MD – & Chuck Gray of Owings, MD.

Captain Chris Mizurak of the Angler also reported really good fishing over ocean structure today.  Captain Chris reported sea bass limits around the rail and some flounder limits for a few customers with fish to over three pounds.

Captain Wayne Blanks of Bayside Guide Service has been fishing the “fish bowl” the past few days and has been putting a hurt on the flounder.  Captain Wayne and his brother Captain Eric Blanks released several flounder and put six nice keepers in the boat on Gulp baits.

Hopefully David Beach’s boss doesn’t read the Daily Angle because he decided to ditch work today to do some flounder fishing….can’t say I blame him.  David used live mullet and live bunker at his usual spot and put two keepers of 18″ and 22.5″ in the cooler.
