This evening when I asked Steve from The MidAtlantic how many boats would be fishing tomorrow he said, “157.” And then I asked Steve from The MidAtlantic how many boats are in the tournament and he said, “157.” That’s right…..every boat that is registered to fish the 2018 MidAtlantic is scheduled to fish tomorrow so we could be looking at a really exciting finish. There are some good fish on the board, but nothing is unbeatable, and there is no qualifying blue marlin yet so I’m betting the Pakula lures and big plugs will be smoking in a bunch of spreads tomorrow. If you’re one of the 157 boats fishing tomorrow….good luck! Here’s what you have to beat.

Captain Joe Drosey and the crew of Rhonda’s Osprey weighed a nice dolphin today for The MidAtlantic and got a nice shot of their crew in the back of the boat.

Outside of the tournament….I got an email today from Captain Monty Hawkins of the Morning Star with this shot and a note reporting block number 22,000 being dropped for the Ocean City Reef Foundation…….yes, he accidentally called me Shawn.
Hi Shawn, This is a snap of deckhands Doug Stancombe & Taylor Thornton pushing a block unit over – somewhere in that unit is block 22,000..
We dropped these blocks at Sue Foster’s Reef. But are also working on Capt. Jack Kaeufer’s – Doug Ake’s – Ann Bauer’s – & Capt. Bob Gowar’s Memorial Reefs among others.
Take a few blocks everyday, sometimes up to 300 on special block trips in late winter; they sure add up.
Any hard substrate gets various Marine growths such as mussels within weeks. After 10 years or more they’ll develop a coral community.
All our block reefs are built on OC Reef Foundation permitted reefs and used to bolster existing reef or tie two smaller units together.
We catch sea bass, flounder, & triggerfish on our block piles.

Captain Monty and The Ocean City Reef Foundation are doing tremendous work for our fisheries and they have some pretty awesome coordinates available to the general public. If you’d like to pick up a reef pack or make a donation you can check them out at OC Reefs.org
Captain John Prather of Ocean City Guide Service had a couple of successful trips today. Captain John had my good friend Jeff Harris and his family out for some bluefishing at the route 50 bridge and a couple of other trips that produced Spanish mackerel, sheepshead and a couple of keeper flounder.

Captain Chase Eberle continued his assault of the triggerfish off of Ocean City and put this lucky group on some nice keepers and a keeper flounder for the box.
